From Dusk Till Dawn

From Dusk Till Dawn  is fine for what it is, a grindhouse movie. I think I'm starting to be over Tarantino's schtick. It reminded me of Feast, only Feast was way better, so I recommend watching that instead.

I thought I had From Dusk Till Dawn on the list of movies I had seen, but I don't. I'm not sure why I hadn't ever watched it. I tend to like Robert Rodriguez's movies, in general.

It's definitely a grindhouse movie. I don't know if that's really my thing these days. It reminded me of Feast.

Machete Kills

Machete Kills isn't as good as Machete. There aren't as many big surprises, some of the jokes/ideas that come around again aren't funny a second time, I didn't buy half the performances, and it drags in quite a few places. It still has some great gags, lines, and situations, though, and it was a lot more fun than Gravity.

Machete was a great movie, so I was hoping Machete Kills would be good. Roeper only gave it a C, but I don't know how much I can trust him anymore. Based on that review, I decided not to see it at the theater. Once it came in on DVD, I thought I did want to see it at the theater; it took so long that I forgot what I decided. But now that I've seen it, I'm glad I didn't see it in the theater. I'm sure people would've been laughing/reacting a lot, and I hate hearing that.

Death Race 3: Inferno

Death Race is a great movie. Death Race 3: Inferno is not. There were multiple times when I was watching this that I wished I hadn't wasted my time. The concept is still cool, and there are a few enjoyable moments and lines, but not nearly enough to make up for the painfully terrible acting.

Death Race, I wish I knew how to quit you. I thought I was going to get to see The Illusionist (animated one, not Edward Norton), but the library didn't have it in stock after all. I was frustrated enough about that to just watch Death Race 3 without doing any research on it. Death Race was a great movie, and all I remember about Death Race 2 was that it sucked. The trailer for Death Race 3 looked promising, so I gave it a shot.

That turned out to be a mistake. The acting was so bad it was downright painful to watch. The star, the navigator, the villain, practically every actor in the entire movie was terrible. Danny Trejo, Fred Koehler and Ving Rhames were fine, but that's about it. There were actually a few good lines, but most of the writing was terrible. The driver introductions were totally flat; no info about the driver at all, just a flashy picture with their name. They did have a couple interesting drivers; I actually felt sorry for all of them when they died, which wasn't a good direction to go.

I guess because Luke Goss sucked so much, I really didn't care about Frankenstein, and I wasn't interested in him beating the other drivers. So much of the movie made no sense. Why were the prisoners always allowed to tell all the guards to leave? Why was Katrina randomly washing the floor by Carl's cell?

Death Race 2

They clearly had a problem finding quality people for this movie. The dialogue, direction, production, editing, and acting were all horrible. If you like Death Race enough, though, you can almost get past all of that. The idea behind the movie was solid, it was great to see how it all started, and they finally got something right when people stopped talking and things wrapped up at the end.

Con Air

A movie with Nic Cage, John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi, and John Cusack is guaranteed to be good. The explosions were a bit much, and the ending went on for way too long. Cage's accent annoyed me for the first and fourth quarters of the movie, but I actually liked it in the middle. I puked about 8 times after I watched this and now I feel absolutely terrible and have a fever of 100.3, but I don't blame the movie.

Bubble Boy

Yay Jake Gyllenhaal..even if his hair is a little weird in this one. Way better than I was expecting. All the people he meets on his journey are great.
