Exceeded expectations. There were a couple things I'd never seen done before, and it kept me interested in the plot the whole time. At first I was disappointed with who was behind everything, but I gradually came to accept it. Michelle is pretty, and they couldn't possibly have found a cuter kid to play Sam. Roasario and Billy Bob were nice to see, too.
The Dark Knight
The entire movie is basically an exhibition of Heath Ledger's awesome
portrayal of the Joker, which makes it better than Batman Begins. I knew
it was him the whole time, obviously, but I didn't recognize him under
the make-up until about halfway through the movie. I loved everything
they did with his character aesthetically; hair, make-up, clothing, all
of it. Christian Bale does a good job too, but Bruce/Batman is a minor
player compared to the Joker.
Rashômon
Bo-ring. The woman was ugly, she had no eyebrows; why was everyone
always so sweaty?! The story does have some merit, but maybe it's better
just to read the book.
Army of Darkness
Weird. I don't like weird movies. This one wasn't scary though, and I
don't like scary movies, so it has that going for it. It was cool to
finally hear all of the quotes, but aside from that, like so many
series, they should've stopped earlier. I can see why people like the
series as a whole, though.
Evil Dead 2
At first I was like, "fuck, why would he go *back* to that cabin?" but then I was reminded that he never escaped in the first place, so it was okay. I liked this scenario much better than the first one; starting out with one person and adding more was way better than starting off with lots of annoying people. The cheese and gore factors were both lower than in Evil Dead, which made it better. I found it to be an acceptable movie.
Robocop 3
Not as bad as II, but not as good as the first one, either. I'm glad I
don't have to watch anymore Robocop movies now. I didn't like that they
changed actors for Murphy though, and why did Lewis' hair have to be
longer in each movie?
Robocop 2
I didn't like Cain, I didn't like the kid, I didn't like the psychologist, and Robocop just can't seem to catch a break.
RoboCop
The best out of the series. The plot is engaging, and you've got lots of good characters to be interested in, too.
First Snow
Guy Pearce is good times. Other than that, the movie was interesting, but I didn't like that the ending was ambiguous.
Hero
At first I was like, "this is so unrealistic. lame," but then I realized
we were watching someone tell a story, so I was okay with it. I loved
the use of color, and all the different versions of the story. Maggie
and Tony are pretty, and Jet's great as always, although I got a few
more shots of his pudgy little hands than I would've liked. Overall, it
was a great movie.
Choke
I don't remember Fight Club anymore, so I have no idea what Palahniuk's
work is usually like, but this was pretty intense. I wouldn't go so far
as to say I liked it, but it was engaging at least. It veered off course
at the end; Paige's backstory was completely unbelievable, and the way
things ended for Victor and Denny didn't match the tone of the movie.
Babylon A.D.
When I saw the trailer for this a while ago, I thought it was another
Riddick movie. But it's not. The first half was really interesting, but
then it took a turn. It's lousy with plot holes, but it's great
visually..at least until everything goes to shit two-thirds of the way
through.
Death Race
It had a few flat moments, but it was everything I expected and more.
The characters were likeable, the action was exciting, the story and
ideas behind the race were simple but interesting. The soundtrack was
surprisingly awesome, with the exception of one horrible choice at the
end. And I did finally like Jason Statham in something, yay.
Quarantine
I had to see it because I saw the trailer two or three times and I
wanted to know what the secret was. The part before they get to the
apartment building was dreadful, but there was stuff that made it
interesting later, and I found it to be appropriately suspenseful.
Delirious
It's a little slow at first, but I found it more interesting at every
point than parts of The Bank Job; maybe only because Steve Buscemi makes
any scene worth watching. I loved the score and the soundtrack. It's a
little weird that there were no attractive people in it, not even one,
but I guess that's what happens when you make a movie for $2 million (or
was it three?). The lead actress reminded me of Alex Borstein, which
was really distracting since she was supposed to be pretty. But, that
aside, it was honest and satirical and fantasy all in the right places,
so I enjoyed it.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Hands-down the best in the franchise. I actually liked it, although
maybe after The Scorpion King, I would've enjoyed anything. Also, I
think I'm becoming immune to the terrible camp of the family. Not only
did they switch out actresses for Evelyn, but they also
switched out her character, which was a little weird, but whatever; like
I said, the family's going to suck no matter what, so you've got to
focus on the other part of the movie, which of course had Asian people,
so I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was also happy to see Jonathan, which was
unexpected, but I liked his character in this one. And I liked the yeti,
and the sorceress. Also, it wasn't in the desert for once, and they
didn't do the stupid repetition thing.
The Mummy Returns
Rachel looks much better here and I also liked this movie more, although
I wasn't a fan of all the stuff they repeated from last time; too
campy, but then again, so's the whole series.
The Mummy
Ugh, Rachel Weisz, why do you look so terrible in this? Also, fake hair,
bad times. The opening half-naked hot lady scene was the best part of
the whole movie. It was kind of hard to think of Imhotep as a bad guy,
too, since all he was trying to do was resurrect his girlfriend.
The Bank Job
This was the first Jason Statham movie I saw, and I wasn't really impressed.
I liked the 70's London setting. The "black power" subplot was lame, but I guess it was necessary since it really happened. Overall, it was too amateur and small-timey to be interesting, and I didn't find the ending to be realistic at all, probably because that's not even what happened.

Step Brothers
It was about what I expected. A little lame, a little good. Reilly
bothered me less than I thought he would. Mary Steenburgen looks fake
tanned and terrible; I'm not sure this is a movie that really needs to
be seen on the big screen. It does have more laughs than you see in the
previews, although those are the main ones, but there are also a couple
of plot points beyond "I hate you, now I like you," which is good. Best
line in the entire thing: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but I'm
going to kick you in the balls repeatedly."
Definitely, Maybe
Ryan Reynolds is so attractive. And adorable in a bed. I still don't
like Abigail Breslin. Thank Christ Elizabeth Banks doesn't look like any
other actresses; it would've been more than I could handle, what with
Isla Fisher being a body double for Amy Adams, and Rachel Weisz the same
for Kate Winslet. I was a little disappointed by the movie being overly
cutesy, but it isn't a complete waste of time..as long as you're just
there to watch Ryan.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Typical Hellboy atmosphere, but I would've liked to've seen more of
the creature world. The ending came without enough sacrifice, and I
missed the Professor.
In Bruges
Collin Farrell's eyebrows are the star of this movie. The first half is
witty and amusing, but the movie loses some of its enjoyability when it
turns serious, and the ending is too ambiguous for my taste.
WALL-E
Touching. I loved what they were able to do in the first part of the
movie completely without dialogue, and it's always good to get an
anti-consumerism message out to the kiddies.
Wanted
I liked the idea behind this story, and the twist was good. Angelina
Jolie is too skinny, but she's hot enough as the only woman we've got
for most of the movie.
Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky
Somehow I think the manga must've been better. This was probably the
goriest movie I've ever seen, and besides that, it was pretty dopey, but
it did have a couple of worthwhile moments. The only plot argument I
have is that although he's fighting against corrupt jailers, he's also
fighting to free legitimate criminals who actually belong in jail, which
is a little weird.
You Don't Mess with the Zohan
I didn't realize this was going to be 75% sex jokes. Still, a typical Adam Sandler movie.
Bubble Boy
Yay Jake Gyllenhaal..even if his hair is a little weird in this one.
Way better than I was expecting. All the people he meets on his journey
are great.
There Will Be Blood
Daniel Day-Lewis makes this movie awesome, and the milkshake line is just one of several great moments.
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
There can be no hope in a movie that opens with a naked, sweaty Philip
Seymour Hoffman doing someone doggy-style. None at all. Also, they
managed to make Ethan Hawke look terrible. Albert Finney turned out to
be a good actor, though. (I've never really seen him in anything else.) I
really enjoyed the strategy they used for flashbacks, both introducing
them and editing them in. It kept things interesting, always revealing
more of the story without ever making you feel like you were missing out
on something. It really is more of a melodrama than a thriller, and the
commentary was quite interesting. More enjoyable than the movie,
certainly.
Blade: Trinity
I still don't like Wesley Snipes, and this struck me as rather immature.
Dominic is good and Ryan is hot, but Blade II is still the only one
worth watching.
Speed Racer
This hurt my eyes, and I wish I knew more about the cartoon. The movie
needed way more Asian people, but Benno was an awesome surprise. I think
I would've liked it more if I were a 10 year-old boy, but it wasn't
bad.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The first few minutes didn't grab me, but the Tri-Wizard
Championship proved to be interesting, and I'm curious to see the next
one.
The Forbidden Kingdom
The lead guy is cute, all the women are hot, and Jet Li and Jackie Chan are in the same movie. What more do you need?
The Darjeeling Limited
Quirky and stylish, but there isn't a lot of substance, and we've seen a lot of this from Anderson before.
Enchanted
This is perfectly fine as long as you go into it expecting it to be
dopey. There's nothing terribly innovative here, and Adams' affect is a
bit much at times. Still, there were a few interesting moments.
Death at a Funeral
This is worth watching only because Alan Tudyk is brilliant in it. Other than that, the plot is rather un-interesting.
Atonement
The composition and score are absolutely beautiful. The second half is a little tedious, but the ending is brutal.
No Country for Old Men
Javier's weapons were pretty cool, but other than that, I don't see what was supposed to be so revolutionary about this.
I Am Legend
This was a lot like watching Will Smith pretend to be Tom Hanks from
Cast Away. I liked the ending better than what I was expecting based on
the book's, but I'd still like to see a movie that explores the book's
themes.
Shoot 'Em Up
Owen did a good job making the character likeable, but other than that, I didn't enjoy this at all.
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters
Not a must-see, but definitely interesting, if only because Billy Mitchell is such a colossal douche.
The Invisible
This had more depth than I was expecting, and was way more sad. The lead could've been cuter, though.
The Triplets of Belleville
This is a great movie. I love that there's no dialogue. The story is great.
Across the Universe
Beautifully done, even if I didn't recognize half the songs and it did get too trippy at times.
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Jonathan Rhys-Myers is hot. Clive Owen, not so much. Slow start that never really goes anywhere, but interesting nonetheless.
Can't Hardly Wait
Aside from having at least 5 people from Six Feet Under in it, this was pretty lame.
